Samsung jets the Jet

Samsung Jets the Jet.

Samsung is back with yet another handset, and the Korean cellular giant ain’t letting up on the competition with the Samsung Jet. This is touted to be one of the latest in mobile handset innovation, and was unveiled at a series of global launch events in London, Dubai and Singapore. Just what is the Samsung Jet, anyways? Well, this cellphone will be equipped with virtually all the benefits of both advanced features found in most modern day smartphones, and will be accompanied by an easy-to-use user interface that is available in conventional handsets.

What sets the Samsung Jet apart from the rest? Well, it can be considered to be a pioneer in terms of display technology as well as performance speed, where the 3.1″ WVGA AMOLED display is touted to offer just about the most vivid and colorful full touchscreen mobile experience ever, not to mention the availability of 16 million colors dancing across the display simultaneously. Sounds pretty good in theory but seriously, just how much color do you think one would like to pack into a 3.1″ display, let alone our eyes that won’t really be able to tell the difference in such a tiny footprint? Still, if bragging rights are what you’re after, then you won’t go wrong with the Samsung Jet.

It will be powered by the latest TouchWiz 2.0 user interface from Samsung, and while we’re sure it is an improvement over its predecessor by offering “an unrivalled user experience”, chances are it won’t be able to hold up to Apple’s iPhone OS 3.0. Still, we’re not here to do a review and the Samsung Jet will boast iconic new features including motion UI, smart unlock and a customizable widget screen to get you going. The Dolfin Internet browser (someone point them to a spelling checker, quick!) is said to be specially designed to work with just about any website, targeting the use of social networking sites especially. Other features include a 5-megapixel camera, built-in GPS, DNSe and SRS Sound Effect technology, 2GB internal memory, as well as EDGE/GPRS Class 12 (850, 900, 1800, 1900 MHz) HSDPA 3.6Mbps (900, 2100 MHz) connectivity.

National Geographic releases new phone.

Mention National Geographic and what comes across your mind? Surely you will think of exotic far off places, or a patient cameraman waiting for days, weeks even, to capture that glimpse of a rare animal, or even visit the remotest jungle tribes in the world and view their culture over TV? Well, the informative company is now taking a rare step into something totally different - it has just announced their very own handset, known as the National Geographic Duet Travel Phone that was specially designed for the needs of the international traveler. We don’t suppose all those folks who act as hosts on National Geographic documentaries will be getting one of these puppies, eh? This new handset will come with dual SIM card support and is traveler friendly, featuring functions such as Bluetooth connectivity, a camera, an integrated FM radio for entertainment, mobile TV support and a memory card slot.

To sweeten the eal, the Duet Travel Phone will also come pre-loaded with various National Geographic content that ought to keep a fan of documentaries and nature magazines happy, including ringtones, wallpapers and travel-related videos from the National Geographic Channel. What makes the Duet special is it comes with National Geographic’s pay-as-you-go National Geographic Travel SIM card. What this SIM card does is enable affordable calling in 185 countries, including free incoming calls in over 80 countries and 30 minutes of outgoing call credit (for most countries). Users can also choose to use up the remaining SIM card slot for a secondary number and service, making it perfect for folks who want to retain their current number when traveling overseas while enjoying the call options offered on the first SIM card. Another great feature to have would be its 24/7 toll-free US-based customer service that is accessible straight from the handset through a three-digit access number.

You can pick up the National Geographic Travel Phone from CellularAbroad.com, Amazon.com, Expansys-usa.com and other select retailers.
